Design
We incorporate sustainable design features in the design of our data centres and specify higher-performance thermal building envelopes in some regions to optimise energy performance.
Heat recovery
In cooler regions, we consider waste heat utilisation in our initial designs, utilising waste heat from data centres for district heating systems or close by buildings heating.
Cooling systems
Our designs typically feature dry-air and closed-loop water cooling systems providing climate resilience and preserving water in drought susceptible regions. We also ensure adaptability to fluid-based cooling solutions for specific intensive usage.
Production and usage of renewable energy
Ideally, our customers use renewable energy to minimise emissions, sourced partially from solar PV we provide where possible.
In FY23, 85 percent our top 20 global customers (by rent) have public operational emissions reduction and net zero targets, and 70 percent have renewable electricity commitments.
Optimising power usage effectiveness (PUE)
Our data centres are designed to achieve state-of-the-art PUEs. We commit to optimising energy efficiency by using advanced cooling technologies, implementing innovative designs for airflow management and employing other sustainable practices.
We typically focus on energy efficiency, renewable energy and reducing embodied carbon in areas we can control and where we can have influence across our value chain.
