Goodman held a groundbreaking ceremony on 11 December 2014 attended by Mr. Masanao Itakura, the Mayor of Inzai City and Mr. Masakazu Yoshida, Chief of Chiba Prefecture Public Enterprises Agency for the commencement of construction of the 120,000 sqm first stage of Goodman Business Park Chiba the new large-scale, master-planned, multi-use logistics and business park which on completion will have an end value in excess of US$1 billion across multiple buildings.
Key facts:
Prelease: SBS Logicom, a leading Japanese 3PL has signed a pre-lease over 25%
Paul McGarry, Chief Executive Officer of Goodman Japan said, “We are very pleased to be commencing the construction of the first stage of Goodman Business Park Chiba with a 25% pre-lease to SBS Logicom. Since launching this unique project in November 2014 we have received very positive feedback from the Inzai City Mayor’s office, the local community and a number of our key Japanese and global customers. This large-scale, master-planned business park is a first in Japan and will provide affordable rents and a high level of employee amenity in a densely populated, growth corridor to a range of complementary business users”.
Masahiko Kamata, Representative Director and President of SBS Holdings Inc. said, “We are currently operating over 300,000 tsubo of logistics space across Japan, and plan to further improve our operational efficiencies by consolidating and expanding a number of our facilities into larger distribution hubs. Goodman Business Park Chiba East offers flexible, modern space with large individual floor plates of up to 10,000 tsubo. Operating on a single floor rather than over multiple floors will allow us to reduce our operating costs and pass those savings on to our customers. The location is also perfect with very good transport infrastructure, high availability of employees, while the unrivalled building finish and amenity being provided by Goodman in its developments are further reasons why we choose to partner with Goodman at Goodman Business Park Chiba East. We are very much looking forward to further opportunities to collaborate with Goodman in this logistics and business park and across Japan”.
